With convenient features such as bill pay and remote check deposit, the Superior Choice Credit Union mobile app is a great way to access your SCCU accounts on the go. The SCCU mobile app is available for download for Android devices from Google Play or for iOs devices from the Apple iTunes App Store.
Open the SCCU mobile app from your smart phone or tablet device. You’ll notice the home screen of the app has five buttons at the bottom of the screen. Here is a quick overview of what each button does.
- Home: This button will bring you to the home screen of the mobile app
- Locked/Unlocked: This button will log you in and out of the secure portions of the app. You will need to log in using your It’s Me 247 Online Banking login credentials to access your online banking account and remote check deposit.
- My Accounts: This will bring you to the mobile-optimized version of It’s Me 247 Online Banking where you may check account balances, make transfers, pay bills, and more.
- Move Money: This button will bring up two menu options – Deposit Check and Transfer Money. Clicking the Deposit Check button will bring you to the remote check deposit service. Transfer Money will bring you to the Quick Transfer service to move money between accounts.
- More: The More button will bring up options for branch information, applying for a loan, assist section with frequently asked questions, app settings and info, and SCCU social media links.
You will need an SCCU It’s Me 247 Online Banking account to use the online banking and check deposit features of this app. If you do not have an It’s Me 247 Online Banking account, visit your nearest branch or call 1-800-569-4167 to get started.
To log in to access secure portions of the app, click the Lock button at the bottom of the screen. You will be prompted to log in to the app with a username and password. You’ll also be prompted to answer one of your security questions. These are the same login credentials that you use to log in to It’s Me 247 Online Banking.
When you’re done using the secure portions of the app, click the “Unlocked” button at the bottom of the screen. Then, click the Sign Out button. For your protection, you will be signed out after 10 minutes of inactivity.
Registering for Mobile Check Deposit
To deposit a check remotely using the camera on your device, click the Move Money icon at the bottom of the app, then click the Deposit Check icon that pops up.
You will be required to register to use remote check deposit services. Within the app, all you must do is click the Register button on the Mobile Check Deposit screen. A Superior Choice Credit Union employee will then review your request to be approved for mobile check deposit services. To be approved, you must be a member in good standing (no delinquent loans, no NSFs in last six months, etc.). Approval for remote check deposit can take up to 1-2 business days.
Upon submitting your registration, you’ll see a screen that states your registration for remote check deposit is pending.
Using Mobile Check Deposit
Once you’re approved for mobile check deposit services, you’ll be able to start using your device’s camera to take pictures of and deposit your checks. SCCU allows members to deposit up to $2,000 per day using mobile check deposit. You may deposit up to five items per day. The minimum per item deposit is $1.00 and the maximum is $1,000. A total of $5,000 may be deposited over a rolling 30-day period.
To deposit a check, click the Move Money icon at the bottom of the app screen, then click the Deposit Check icon. On the Mobile Check Deposit screen, click the Deposit Your Check button. You’ll be taken to a screen with some useful tips for depositing your check. Carefully read these tips and then click the Continue button if you wish to proceed with depositing your check.
On the next screen, enter the check amount. You must enter the check amount in a $XX.XX format. For example, $50.00 is the correct way to enter an amount of fifty dollars. $50 is the incorrect way to enter this amount. A green check mark will appear when you’ve typed a dollar amount in the correct format.
Proceed to take pictures of the front and back of the check. Be sure that your check images are clear and in focus. Don’t forget to endorse the back of your check with “For Mobile Deposit Only.” Without this endorsement, checks may be rejected.
Finally, choose which account you’d like to deposit your check to and hit the submit button.
Once your check has been successfully submitted, a Superior Choice Credit Union employee will review the check image and either accept or deny your mobile check deposit. This approval process could take up to one to two business days. Always be sure to check if your deposit posted to your account before you assume that funds are available!
Checking Mobile Check Deposit Submission Status
You will not receive notification when your check is approved or denied. Thus, it is critically important for you to check your Mobile Check Deposit History!
You may easily check the status of your mobile check deposit submission. Just click the Move Money icon at the bottom of the app screen. Then, click the Check Deposit icon. On the Mobile Check Deposit screen, click the View Mobile Check Deposit History button. Deposit history displays the last 30-day cycle of deposits that have been made through mobile check deposit. Deposits that were approved will have a green check mark next to them. Deposits that are in review will have a blue arrow icon. Deposits that were rejected will have a red exclamation mark symbol next to them.
It may take one to two business days from check approval before your deposit is posted to your account. Be sure to check your online banking account to see if the deposit was posted after the remote check deposit was approved!
Remember to log out of the SCCU mobile app when you’re done using the app. Most importantly, NEVER share your It’s Me 247 Online Banking login information with anyone! Several well-known scams exist where victims are duped into providing online banking credentials to scammers. Sometimes it’s under the guise that scammers do not have access to financial services in the foreign country in which they are traveling or working.
The scammer logs into the account and uses the account-to-account (A2A) / external transfer feature to initiate ACH debits against accounts at other institutions pulling funds into the victim’s account for deposit. The victim is instructed to send the funds to the scammer by Western Union or MoneyGram. The ACH debits are subsequently returned to the credit union as unauthorized.
In another variation, the scammer logs into the victim’s account and requests mobile remote deposit capture service. Once the account is set-up for mobile remote deposit capture, the scammer transmits images of fraudulent checks for deposit to the victim’s account. Again, the victim is instructed to send the funds to the scammer by Western Union or MoneyGram. The checks are subsequently returned unpaid.
The best way to prevent falling victim to scams like this is to NEVER share your online banking login credentials!
